W05 Reflection: Entrepreneurial Journal
Date: 08/26/2022
- This week I learned the importance of seeking advice from mentors. I have never sat down and had a full interview with someone that I look up to before this week's interview with Jeff, so it was an eye-opening experience. It made me realize how important it is to have the right people in your life that will encourage you, support you, and find ways to help you achieve your goals and dreams. I definitely have that in my life right now with my husband, family, and friends. They are the greatest support system in all that I do, but I guess I realized how important it is in regard to the workplace. I often have thought about work as just a place I go to put my work in for 8 hours a day and get paid, but I should be seeking for more opportunities while I am there. I should be talking with my bosses and learning from them, asking for advice, asking questions, and putting myself out there. I think it would benefit me at my current job, but also as I further my career. I don't want to be the person that sits in the corner and is just kind of in the background anymore. I want to start showcasing the talents and skills I have and find ways I can use them for good. I know there are a lot of people out there that I can benefit and who also can benefit me in the process. I don't want to be scared of failure anymore. I know the satisfaction I will get from just trying will be better than the disappointment of never giving it show, so why not just try.
- Additionally, this week I enjoyed discussing assets, components, and processes. Being able to visualize an entrepreneurial career as a sort of machine with various moving pieces really helped me understand how I should plan to start a business. It made me dive deep into what details and plans need to be in place, and what is truly important to me. I want to make sure that I am becoming the person I was meant to become, and not someone who I don't want to be through my career. As I mentioned in my paper about my interview, Jeff has always been someone who is motivated by the right things. He is always looking to help others through whatever he does, and that is how I want to be when I run my own business. There is nothing in the world that makes me happier than finding a way to help others, so that needs to be a focus of my business.
- As we continue to move through this class and start the last two weeks, I am excited to continue learning about myself. As I have mentioned before, this class has given me a great opportunity to really sit down and think about what I want in my life and who I want to become. I have felt very inspired by the Lord throughout this entire class, and I feel like I am starting to see my full potential and what could be in store for me. I look forward to finishing the "Hero's Journey" and being able to learn more these next few weeks about how I can continue to improve and grow. I am very glad that I took this class. I think it was meant for me in this time in my life as I am wrapping up my degree and starting to figure out what my next steps are.
